Kate had to use a double for her pool shooting scene in episode 507 of One Tree Hill.

Mark Schwann, One Tree Hill's creator, writer, and producer told Kate that she had a good chance that she could act for a living.

Kate said that if she gets the chance she would love to do more episodes on One Tree Hill.

Mark Schwann writer and producer of One Tree Hill said of Kate, "When she opens her mouth and sings, you realize this is exactly what this person was put on the earth to do. I hope the show does everything it can for her, because she's worthy of it."

Kate beat out a couple of Grammy winners who also tried out for the part of Mia on One Tree Hill.

Kate's album Don't Look Away was re-released the day of her television debut on One Tree Hill; January 22, 2008.

She was doing a week long gig on a Caribbean cruise ship called The Rock Boat with Matt Nathanson, Alexa Wilkinson, and Josh Kelley who she has previously been on tour with, during the airing of her debut on One Tree Hill.

Personal

Before One Tree Hill Kate had previous acting experience in her high school's production of Once Upon A Mattress where she appeared as a member of the chorus.

Kate began to sing in The Riverside Children's Choir at the age of ten.

Kate was a "Rockettes" cheerleader at Bay High School.

Kate was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority when she was at Miami University.

Kate was an excellent student before entering the professional world; she had close to straight A's in her two years at Miami University. She also had excellent grades at Bay High School, which led to her being accepted to New York University as well, but turned it down to stay in-state.

Kate can lick her elbow.

Kate said if she could only eat one food for the rest of her life it would be Milky Way midnights.

If Kate were a doughnut she said she would be a chocolate glazed doughnut with rainbow sprinkles.

In sports Kate roots for both the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kate says that caramel mochas are her weakness, and that they're like a candy bar in a cup.

Kate is of German descent.

Kate prefers Mac computers over Windows, and iPod over Zune.

Kate's favorite movies is Almost Famous and Home Alone. Her favorite television show is The Office.
